In “Backlash or Bitten Tongues: What’s the Long-Term World Response to U.S. Sanctions?” (October 2020, Issue 93, WorldECR), Eric Lorber, vice president, highlights his perspective on the long-term effects of the world’s reaction to U.S. sanctions. According to Eric, “It’s important to note that there are other substantial jurisdictions that are really getting into the sanctions game as well.” He also noted: “There are four independent centres of sanctions power: the US, UK, EU, and China. I expect that as each of these independent centres develops a sanctions authority and continues to designate and impose new sanctions, this will create substantial new challenges for multinational companies and financial institutions. It may not slow down international trade, but it will change the pattern somewhat significantly.”
