In “Economics Sanctions as Another Tool to Curb Cybersecurity Attacks” (Legaltech News, 3 Apr. 2015), Jeremy Kroll notes that cybersecurity sanctions “level the playing field because borders don’t matter anymore,” but cautions that corporations need to monitor sanctions lists and have incident response plans in place. He adds, “Responses that are slow or ineffective can hurt an organization. And employees, top executives, and board members all need to ensure they receive appropriate training on cybersecurity issues.”
