Luke Rowe is a director at K2 Integrity, where he assists clients in developing and implementing effective and comprehensive anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) frameworks, ensuring compliance with national requirements, global standards, and international best practices. He conducts gap analyses, performs risk assessments, and leads remediation efforts. With experience in local and international law, Luke helps clients better identify, manage, and mitigate financial crimes compliance (FCC) and reputational risk by helping them to detect, analyze, and quantify inherent risks and put in place mitigating measures.
Before joining K2 Integrity, Luke served as a policy fellow at the Financial Accountability and Corporate Transparency (FACT) Coalition, where he researched current issues around anti-money laundering, beneficial ownership, and tax transparency in the United States and internationally. He was also a research fellow at the Center on Inclusive Trade and Development, conducting research on issues of trade and development and digital inclusion, including digital inclusion in trade agreements.
During his LL.M. studies, Luke was a legal extern in the International Monetary Fund’s Financial Integrity Group, where he conducted research on different countries’ National Risk Assessments approach to cross-border financial flows risks and ultimate beneficial ownership risks.
Luke began his career in the legal field, most recently as a solicitor at international law firm Herbert Smith Freehills, where he assisted clients with commercial litigation and investigations matters with a focus on banking sector and AML/CFT laws, and on international arbitration, international corporate advice, and M&A matters. He was previously a judicial clerk at the Supreme Court of New South Wales, Australia.
Luke has an LL.M. from the Georgetown University Law Center, a J.D. from the University of New South Wales, and a B.A., with honors, in politics from the University of Wollongong.
