Mariano Federici spoke with Reuters about the emerging risks to the international financial system stemming from Afghanistan, and the decision from the Egmont Group to disconnect Afghanistan’s FIU from its network. According to Mariano, “Disconnecting is a loss for the global FIU community as the aim is always to foster greater cooperation, but the underlying principle under which this cooperation takes place is trust and that is not in place at the moment in Afghanistan.”
