Tom Pannell is a managing director in K2 Integrity’s Investigations and Risk Advisory practice. With a focus on financial investigations, Tom leads multidisciplinary teams working with corporate clients and their legal advisors responding to crisis events, including multijurisdictional white-collar crime, misconduct, financial statement fraud, anti-bribery and corruption incidents, and compliance risk advisory work. With more than 20 years of experience, Tom brings subject-matter expertise across industries. He has presented to regulators such as the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Department of Justice (DOJ), as well as to audit and special committees, boards of directors, and other stakeholders.

Prior to joining K2 Integrity, Tom served as a partner in Ernst & Young’s (EY) Forensic and Integrity Services practice, where he led teams on major matters around the globe, including in Brazil, China, Russia, India, Turkey, Angola, Bosnia, Germany, Tunisia, Egypt, and the United States. He provided clients and teams guidance on complex regulatory matters, using his understanding of clients’ industries to identify and mitigate key risks.

Tom was the lead partner on corruption and fraud risk assessments across sectors. Specific techniques included broad companywide assessments to specific country and business until level assessments. He also assisted clients across sectors in enhancing compliance programs with a focus on effective and practical compliance measures to fit the client’s risk profile.

Before his promotion to partner, Tom served as a senior manager in EY’s Forensic and Integrity Services. Tom also served in EY's Business Risk Services practice, where he focused on internal controls and the implementation and operation of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance programs and its Canadian equivalent. Tom began his career at EY within the audit practice. 

Tom is an author and established thought leader on the subjects of fraud, bribery and corruption risk and compliance. 

Tom holds a Master of Accountancy and a B.B.A. in business administration from the University of Georgia. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and is Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF).
