Lisa Silverman heads the Chicago office of K2 Integrity. She has conducted high-stakes, multinational investigations for a variety of clients for more than 30 years.

Lisa has an impressive track record of working closely with her clients to resolve complicated business issues across a wide array of industries and disciplines. Her investigative work spans frauds, shareholder activism and corporate contests, competitive intelligence, theft of trade secrets, and due diligence, and she has worked extensively in the gaming and lottery sectors.

In recent years Lisa co-led international investigations for four state governments, including Illinois, in connection with the hiring of private lottery managers. She not only oversaw the investigations but was charged with project oversight and compliance. She has also undertaken investigations on behalf of gaming regulators and has worked with lottery and gaming owners and operators who were seeking state approval for operations. During this work, she identified undisclosed criminal matters, self-dealing, conflicts of interest, material misstatements, questionable financial solvency, and inappropriate political contributions. Additionally, Lisa has worked with multinational gaming organizations submitting bids for operating licenses, to provide intelligence on their competitors and identify potential vulnerabilities regarding their own bids were to further their own casino license proposals.

Prior to joining K2 Integrity, Lisa was a managing director with Kroll.

Lisa received her M.B.A. in finance and international business from the New York University Stern School of Business, her M.A. in European history from Columbia University, and her B.A. in history and women’s studies from Haverford College. Prior to beginning her career in investigations, Lisa worked for Sesame Street in New York City.

Representative Matters

In a multi-year engagement for a publicly traded utility, Lisa led work that helped her client rebuff an attack by an activist investor, finding among other things that organizations pretending to advance a climate-friendly agenda were funded by conservative think tanks, activist shareholders, and competitors.
In an engagement to support a local wind farm, Lisa led a team that found the grassroots opposition to the project was actually funded by fossil fuel supporters. K2 Integrity’s client used this information to negotiate a successful resolution.
When an energy developer wanted to hire lobbyists, it engaged Lisa’s team to undertake a due diligence, which found that one of the lobbyists under consideration was the subject of litigation alleging unethical business practices. The client removed the lobbyist, who was later indicted, from its pool of candidates.
When a publicly traded shale development company faced pressure from an activist hedge fund, K2 Integrity found the fund was pressuring the company because of an undisclosed failing investment in a competitor, successfully rebuffing the attack.
