Christina Poplow is a director in the Financial Crimes Risk Management practice at K2 Integrity. Her experience in anti-money laundering (AML) compliance includes transaction monitoring, AML compliance program reviews, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanction compliance reviews, regulatory consent order remediation projects, due diligence reviews, sanction hit analysis, and suspicious activity report (SAR) writing and preparation. Christina works with financial institutions to investigate customer records and verify their legitimacy in accordance with internal policies and procedures as well as local and federal regulations.
Prior to joining K2 Integrity, Christina was a vice president of AML and sanctions at CLS Group International, within its AML and sanctions compliance team. She completed business as usual (BAU) tasks, which included negative media searches, 314(a) update reviews, and weekly reconciliation of potential OFAC hits. She also analyzed and dispositioned potential OFAC hits and supported the team in enhancing the firm’s AML compliance program.
Before CLS Bank International, Christina was a KYC officer at JPMorgan Chase, where she performed enhanced due diligence of clients identified as requiring further analysis and risk determination based upon Know Your Customer (KYC) standards for both domestic and international accounts within EMEA and APAC. She reviewed due diligence forms (DDF) for hedge funds, private equities, portfolio managers, and special purpose vehicles, investigating customer records and ensuring they complied with internal policies and procedures as well as related regulatory requirements. After three years in that role, she was promoted to a team lead position, managing a team of six analysts and reviewing alerts generated by the company’s AML transaction monitoring system to verify that alerted transactions were analyzed and dispositioned correctly.
Christina holds a B.S. in human resource management from Baruch College. She is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS).
