Luke Tynan is a director with the Financial Crimes Compliance practice at K2 Integrity. With experience in transaction monitoring, enhanced due diligence, and transaction reviews, he provides third-party financial intelligence unit (FIU) services to financial services institutions. He analyzes alerted transactions, identifies patterns of potentially suspicious behavior, and coordinates requests for information and Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) preparation.
Prior to joining K2 Integrity, Luke was a senior analyst at Citigroup, within its Global Investigations Unit (GIU). He managed a caseload of USA PATRIOT Act 314(a) and 314(b) information requests from law enforcement and other financial institutions. Prior to that, he worked within the FIU at Citigroup, where he worked on a multiyear review of currency exchange transactions between Venezuela and the United States and reviewed subpoena requests.
Before Citigroup, Luke worked as a lawyer, focusing his practice on commercial litigation. He appeared in state and federal court on behalf of clients, took and defended depositions, and drafted pleadings up to and including appellate briefs.
Luke received his LL.B. (J.D.) from the National University of Ireland, Galway. He received a B.A. (International) in French from the National University of Ireland, Galway, and the University of Angers, France. He is licensed to practice law in New York and is a solicitor in good standing with The Law Society of England and Wales.
