Zachary Pegan is a managing director in K2 Integrity’s Financial Crimes Risk Management practice. A seasoned compliance professional with expertise in financial crimes (FC) risk management, regulatory compliance, and technology-driven program transformation, Zach works with global financial institution clients to lead the design, implementation, and modernization of anti-money laundering (AML), sanctions, anti-bribery/anti-corruption (ABC), and fraud prevention programs. His work spans regulatory engagement, policy development, surveillance operations, and compliance technology innovation.
Before joining K2 Integrity, Zach served as director of financial crimes compliance for North America at Aon, where he led its FC compliance program for the region and advised on enterprise-wide transformation initiatives. With expertise across FC domains—including AML, customer due diligence (CDD), antibribery and anticorruption (ABC), sanctions, and market abuse—he oversaw the redesign of global FC policies and the standardization of compliance workflows through centralized systems. Zach mentored a team of analysts and contributed to firmwide training and regulatory engagement, including FinCEN interactions under §314(a) and (b).
Previously, Zach was a director of financial crimes compliance at BlackRock, where he built and led the firm’s global AML surveillance and U.S. investigations and suspicious activity reporting (SAR) programs. He designed and coordinated the deployment of an internally developed compliance risk management platform for centralizing and standardizing surveillance and other compliance functions. Zach developed and executed BlackRock’s strategic vision for global surveillance and U.S. investigations and SAR programs, creating the policy framework and developing related procedures. He also oversaw the firm’s end-to-end U.S. SAR process and managed complex investigations and law enforcement engagement.
Earlier in his career, Zach held senior compliance roles at Citigroup and American Express, where he led global monitoring risk management and rule development for financial intelligence units.
Zach holds a J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law and a B.A., cum laude, in political science from the University of Connecticut.
