On 1 January 2021, Congress passed the Anti-Money Laundering Act of 2020. Part of the National Defense Authorization Act, AMLA enhances the existing whistleblower provisions of the Bank Secrecy Act—providing new incentives for individuals to report violations of the BSA to federal authorities, as well as creating a private cause of action against employers for retaliation.
The discussion will outline the act’s new provisions and examine what they mean for financial institutions. Learn about the risk exposures posed at financial institutions and the whistleblower policies and processes that financial institutions should have in place to protect against liability.
