Andrew Whelan is a senior managing director in K2 Integrity’s Investigations and Disputes practice in Riyadh, where he specializes in conducting business intelligence assignments and internal investigations in the Middle East. He works with governments and sovereign wealth funds, law firms, publicly listed and privately owned corporations, sports organizations, and investment firms.
Andrew’s work in the region spans an array of investigative matters, including performing internal investigations into potential fraud, corruption, conflicts of interest, and leaks of information; overseeing inquiries arising from whistleblowing reports; and conducting and managing complex multijurisdictional due diligence assignments.
Prior to joining K2 Integrity, Andrew was managing partner at an investigations consultancy, where he led the execution of strategic intelligence and investigation projects for investment and legal professionals and business leaders globally.
Previously, Andrew was head of general investigations at a global investigations firm, where he led a senior team and oversaw complex internal investigations globally. He also established and grew the firm’s sports practice, working with industry clients including sports clubs, governing bodies and federations, law firms, and investors.
Earlier, Andrew began his career as an intelligence consultant at K2 Intelligence (which is now K2 Integrity). Before that, he spent almost a decade as an investigative reporter, latterly at The Mail on Sunday, the UK’s biggest-selling national Sunday newspaper.
Andrew received an M.A. in history from the University of Warwick and a B.A. in history (Hons.) from the University of Kent, and post-graduate professional qualifications in Journalism (NCTJ and NCE).
