Dimitri Michaloutsos is a senior director in K2 Integrity’s Financial Crimes Risk Management practice, specializing in economic sanctions, counter-terrorist financing, and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/anti-money laundering (AML) compliance across both traditional and digital finance. He advises financial institutions, fintechs, and virtual asset service providers (VASPs) on building and enhancing sanctions compliance programs, bridging legacy controls with blockchain-native environments.
Dimitri has led global sanctions programs and risk assessments for regulated trust companies, crypto exchanges, and financial institutions, helping operationalize complex regulatory obligations across OFAC, UN, EU, and HMT frameworks. His work includes architecting sanctions governance structures, developing screening and escalation protocols, and advising product and engineering teams on the compliance implications of stablecoins, smart contracts, and decentralized finance.
Before joining K2 Integrity, Dimitri served as global head of sanctions compliance at Arkham Intelligence, where he designed the company’s first comprehensive sanctions program and oversaw blockchain analytics infrastructure. Prior to that, he held senior roles at Paxos Trust Company, where he led sanctions compliance for the firm’s NYDFS-regulated operations, including its exchange, custodial, and stablecoin products, and acted as primary liaison to U.S. and state regulators. Earlier in his career, he served in sanctions compliance functions at MUFG and J.P. Morgan, supporting correspondent banking, capital markets, and global financial crimes initiatives.
Dimitri holds a B.A. in economics and political science from Binghamton University. He is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), Certified Sanctions Specialist (CSS), Certified Global Sanctions Specialist (CGSS), and a Certified International Sanctions Compliance Officer (CISCO). He also holds certifications in blockchain analytics and cryptoasset compliance from Chainalysis and ACAMS.
