Steven Sharpe is vice chair of the board of K2 Integrity and oversees the internal legal functions at the firm.
Steven is managing director of The EmBeSa Corporation, a private consultancy dealing primarily with corporate restructuring, business strategy, and crisis management. He also serves as the executive vice chair of Dundee Corporation and is a director and chair of the compensation and governance committees of Source Energy Services and Crown Capital Partners. Recently, he was chairman of Corporate Risk Holdings, the then parent company of Kroll, Kroll Ontrack, and HireRight.
Since leaving the private practice of law in 1998, Steven’s career has included board and executive positions, public and private, spanning a wide range of commercial interests, from oil and gas exploration to investment banking to hospitality and from investment management to consulting. Steven was chairman and CEO of Longview Oil, chairman of Advantage Oil & Gas, a director and chair of the special committee of Renegade Petroleum, and chairman and CEO of Madalena Energy. He also served as CEO and a director of C.A. Bancorp.
Prior to his time at C.A. Bancorp, Steven was a senior advisor at Blair Franklin Capital Partners, the Toronto-based investment bank that he co-founded in 2002.
Earlier, Steven served as executive vice president at the Kroll-O’Gara Company, where he was responsible for strategic planning, business development and the creation of the firm’s M&A group.
Steven spent his legal career at the Torys firm and at Davies, Ward & Beck, acting on behalf of investment and commercial banks, multinational companies, boards of directors, and shareholders, providing business advice with an emphasis on strategic, conflictual, and governance issues.
In addition, Steven is a former director of Foamex International (NASDAQ) (audit committee), Prime Restaurants (board chair), Security Technologies Group (executive committee), Altamira Investment Services (chair, audit committee), RMX Exploration Company (board chair), C.A. Bancorp, Corporate Risk Holdings, LLC (board chair), Essential Energy Services, Central Toronto Youth Services (board chair), the Child, Youth, and Family Policy Research Centre (founder, vice-chair), Camp Oochigeas (Executive Committee), and the Donwood Institute (board chair). Steven was a member of the steering committee that oversaw the restructuring and subsequent merger of the Addiction Research Foundation, The Clarke Institute, The Donwood Institute, and Queen Street Mental Health Centre into the Centre for Addictions and Mental Health.
Steven received a J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School and a B.Sc. from Western University.
